A Turkish Airlines (THY) Airbus 340 airplane on its Istanbul-Washington flight made an emergency landing back in Istanbul on Thursday after a bird strike. Departing from Istanbul's Ataturk International Airport at 1:50 p.m., a flock of bird hit one of the engines of plane with flight number TK 007 shortly afterit took off. Pilot decided to return back and make an emergency landing at Ataturk Airport. After the pilot informed the Ataturk International Airport control tower about the technical problem, the plane made the landing at 3:40 p.m. The plane was sent to THY maintenance facility. 220 passengers will be transferred to another airplane, continuing their flight to Washington.
