The number of visitors to the tombs and shrines of Prophet Mohammad's (PBUH) companions in Southern Mazar district, 140 kilometers south of Amman, reached 1,473 in September, the Supervisor of the Shrines, Ashraf Btosh, said on Wednesday.
The Shrines of the Prophet's Companions, along with the fact that Jordan enjoys security and stability, helped the Kingdom attract local and international religious tourists, Btosh told Petra.
He added that a Royal Committee tasked with renovating mosques and shrines of various prophets, companions and martyrs had completed the overall maintenance work at the Ja'far ibn Abi Talib Mosque as well as at the Tombs of other Companions in Mazar.
