Egypt received 923,900 tourists in April, 7.4 percent more than the 859,900 it received the same period last year, according to the Central Agency for Mobilization and Statistics (CAPMAS).
In a statement Thursday, the CAPMAS said that the largest proportion of tourists came from Eastern Europe, followed by Western Europe and the Middle East, spending a total of 13.8 million nights in the country.
Tourists from Arab countries increased by 17.7 percent to reach almost 146,200 tourists during April, it added.
Arab tourists spent 1.4 million nights in Egypt in April of this year, 15.4 percent more than in April of the previous year, it noted.
