Abu Dhabi - WAM

UAE, represented by General Civil Aviation Authority (GCAA), has signed an open skies agreement with the government of Cuba. The new agreement allows UAE and Cuban national airlines to operate an unlimited number of flights between the two countries, and to plan flights to any points between the points of origin and destination, said GCAA. Under the agreement, signed during a recent GCAA delegation's two-day visit to Cuba, UAE designated all of its national airlines to conduct international air transportation with Cuba. Cuba visit, part of a GCAA strategy to expand the base of air services agreements, will serve the national airlines, increase trade exchange with other countries as well as boost interaction with their peoples, said GCAA Director-General, Saif Mohammed Al Suwaidi who led a delegation of officials and representatives of national airlines during the two-day visit to Cuba. "GCAA, in collaboration with airlines and local governments, seeks to sign and continuously upgrade more agreements with other countries as UAE now enjoys economic openness to the rest of the world." So far, UAE have signed more than 116 bilateral air services agreements with other countries, of which 114 are open skies agreements.
