Algerian parliament building Algiers – Sufian Si Yusuf   Algeria’s Minister of Interior Daho Ould Kablia revealed on Sunday that the security operation carried out by the counter-terrorism forces, which are part of the Algerian arm, in Flexor in the Boumerdes province , 70km east of the Algerian capital, on the 25th July, where the forces were able to eliminate three suicide bombers who were heading to the capital in a car laden with a lot of explosives and explosive belts which was targeted at exploding the Algerian Parliament building. This is the first time that an Algerian official speaks of the target that thwarted the forces on that day, where all three suicide bombers were killed, including the son of former leader of the Islamic Salvation Front, now defunct, Ali Belhaj, after he had to blow themselves up inside the car they were on board and whose driver refused to obey the orders of the security elements at the security monitoring at the security barrier in Al Thunayeh. The Algerian Minister was speaking from an underground room in Parliament as he spoke in front of the Finance Committee; he reaffirmed that credit goes to the monitoring check points, stressing that if it weren’t for those barriers the capital would have been subjected to terrible violence and suicide attacks. Ould Kablia strongly defended the security measures carried out by the authorities to protect the capital, including intensifying surveillance and inspecting cars heading towards the capital, considering those barriers which citizens complain about the ‘source of security and protection of the capital.’  The counter-terrorism forces had killed on July 25 last year three suicide bombers in the Thunayeh area in Boumerdes, belonging to "Al Qaeda in the Islamic Maghreb", were on-board a car wearing explosive belts and refused to stop at a checkpoint around a quarter to six in evening local time, where it is believed that one of the suicide bombers wanted to surrender himself, but his colleague was quick to blow up the belt which he was wearing. The operation came after receiving a tip from one of the suicide bombers’ families.
