Egyptian President Abdel Fattah al-Sisi will hold an official visit to Kuwait on Monday to hold a summit with Emir Sheikh Sabah al-Ahmad as part of a Gulf tour including the UAE, a week after his visit to Saudi Arabia.
Al-Sisi is scheduled to discuss strengthening the course of relations as well as consultation on regional issues. Al-Sisi will then travel to the United Arab Emirates, To meet officials there, led by the Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi and Deputy Supreme Commander of the Armed Forces Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan.
The visit comes after turning the page of difference between Egypt and Saudi Arabia during the recent period, as the Egyptian president held a visit to Saudi last week and met with King Salman Bin Abdel Aziz to discuss the regional and international issues.
Diplomatic sources said that the Gulf tour comes within the framework of ongoing consultations between the two countries from time to time. They added that the visit is aimed at discussing the overall bilateral cooperation relations, including the promotion of economic and trade cooperation, as well as the latest developments in the region and the counter-terrorism efforts in the countries.
Observers of the relations between Egypt and the Gulf considered that the visit of President Al Sisi to Kuwait and the UAE is very important in light of the special relations with the two countries, but it is gaining additional importance in the light of the challenges that face the Arab national security.
The visit seeks to enhance the handling of Arab issues, which require concerted efforts between Egypt and other Arab countries on issues on the ground. The tour comes to complete the consultations, which took place on the sidelines of the Arab summit in Jordan, and the recent visit he conducted to Riyadh, and to reach an agreement over the mechanism to deal with the ongoing Arab crises.
President Abdel Fattah al-Sisi visited Saudi Arabia last week and held a summit with Saudi king to discuss the ways to enhance strategic relations between the two countries and to discuss various regional and international issues of common concern, especially the fight against terrorism which is considered the major threat facing the Arab national security during the current period.
