Militants from the Hayat Tahrir al-Sham terrorist group (formerly known as Jabhat al-Nusra, banned in Russia) attacked the Syrian government troops’ positions in the Latakia province, killing four servicemen, head of the Russian Center for reconciliation of the conflicting sides Lieutenant General Sergei Solomatin said on Wednesday, adding that the attackers had been eliminated.
"An intelligence unit of the Hayat Tahrir al-Sham terrorist group attacked the Syrian Army’s positions near the Jubb al-Ahmar settlement in the Latakia province. Four Syrian servicemen were killed in the attack, but Syrian troops eliminated the attackers," Solomatin said.
Over the past 24 hours, the Jubb ez-Zarur settlement in the Latakia province was shelled twice. Militants also shelled the northern and northwestern parts of the Aleppo city.
Meanwhile, Russian experts and Aleppo's deputy governor specified ways to bring refugees to the Abu al-Duhur checkpoint, provide them with accommodation and medical assistance. The parties also agreed on a list of settlements where humanitarian and charity missions will be carried out, as well as on a list of infrastructure facilities in the Aleppo province that will be reconstructed, Solomatin added.
