The opposition parties in Algeria that decided to take part in the parliament’s elections are studying different methods to apply control over ballot boxes and prevent any fraud .
Supervising ballot offices using parties’ representatives had always been a challenge to the political class. The governmental parties often use this excuse as a response to opposition’s accusations of fraud in the elections’ results .
The Algerian government formed an independent high committee to supervise the elections ,headed by the former leader of the Islamic Renaissance Movement. This committee saw a lot of criticism especially from the opposition party to the Algerian president Abdelaziz Bouteflika, due to the small number of its participants ,who they claim they can not cover all of Algeria .The opposition parties declined this committee as in a previous time ,they asked for a committee to supervise not to monitor .
The Leader of the Justice and Development Front, Lakhdar bin Khallaf revealed in a statement to “ Arab Today “ ,that there is a coordination between the Islamic Union ,which consist of Justice and Development Front, Renaissance Movement and Construction Movement ,and the Union of Peaceful Society Movement and Front for Change Movement to monitor the ballot boxes and prevent any fraud operations.
He added that the representatives of these parties are soon to have meetings to study the way in which the ballots offices are going to be monitored ,after dividing them between the representatives ,saying that availability of human elements is the only way for this operation to succeed.
The leader of Islamic Change Front Abdul Majid Manasra, said it is going to be impossible for all the participated parities to guarantee a full coverage of all ballot boxes and offices ,due to the great number of population and large geographical area with their limited financial sources. He added that the voting process is happening in 53,000 offices, 10,000 centers and dozens of mobile voting stations ,which make the parties required to secure at least 60,000 observers and this is going to be impossible to achieve.
