A suicide bombing at a religious gathering in Afghanistan's capital Kabul has left at least 40 people dead, a health official said on Tuesday.
At least 60 others were injured in the incident, which took place at a ceremonial hall in Kabul, said Afghan Interior Ministry spokesman Najib Danish.
The ceremony was to celebrate the birth of the prophet Mohammed in the Afghan capital when the suicide bomber blew himself up inside, Danish said.
Eyewitnesses told local TV station ToloNews that at least 1000 people were inside the hall when the bombing took place.
No group has taken responsibility for the attack yet.
Tuesday's bombing marks the 20th large-scale attack in Kabul this year alone. Those attacks have left nearly 490 people dead and more than 930 others injured.
