Former national coach Shehata waits to confirm his A-grade status
Football coaches across the region are vying for professional accreditation today, as the final exam in the second round of the Confederation of the African Football’s [CAF] “License A” coaching course for trainers is held today.
43 coaches
participating in the continent-wide programme will sit examinations under the supervision of CAF senior instructor, Ben Kofi, following successful passes by 34 regional coaches in the first phase which included former manager of the Egyptian national squad Hassan Shehata, former al-Ahly coach Hossam Al Badry and Ismaili boss Sabri Miniawy. CAF management give priority to club managers participating in African tournaments, in line with Confederation regulations.
CAF rules also stipulated participants must have a graduate degree and at least five years coaching experience. Coaches must have received a B or C License over a year previous to the final test.
Former CAF Director Mahmoud Abuanin said that the examination committee added the name of Zamelk’s former coach Hossam Hassan despite his non-attendance, because he already obtained License B and therefore could be examined directly without customary tuition sessions.
It is expected the course’s organising committee will hold a third round exclusively for Egyptian coaches working in the Gulf after the Asian Football Confederation [AFC] banned trainers without License A accreditation from working there. The special Egyptian course begins on January 12 with 30 coaches taking part.
