The Egyptian Football Association (EFA) on Monday decided to boycott all Qatari sport channels.
In a statement, EFA said that all forms of cooperation with the Qatari channels would not be allowed in the coming period, in a full support of the long-awaited steps taken by the political leadership.
It called on all members of the Egyptian football community to take similar steps.
Earlier in the day, Egypt, Saudi Arabia, Bahrain and the United Arab Emirates decided to sever relations with Qatar.
A statement issued by the Foreign Ministry said Egypt's decision to cut ties with the Gulf state came after the failure of all attempts to stop Doha's support to terrorist organizations topped by the terrorist Muslim Brotherhood.
The statement said Doha continued to harbor convicts involved in terrorist operations against Egypt including terrorist attacks in Sinai, along with interference in the internal affairs of Egypt.
