Rabat – Rachid Bougha
The eighteenth edition of the Tetouan International Mediterranean Film Festival is scheduled for March 24-31 this year, with 10 films on the Arab Spring from Tunisia, Egypt, France, Italy, Spain, and the United States
participating.
Director of the Mediterranean International Film Festival, Ahmed Al-Hassani, said the festival would be “an occasion where critics, film directors, and film enthusiasts will meet and discuss the transformation and developments which the Arab world saw in the past year, through reviewing the films that are to be screened”.
In a meeting with Marrakech Cinema Club, Al-Hassani said that this year's festival will have a fresh temperament, marked by cultural and artistic diversity. He added that the films competing for the Tetouan award the “White Dove” included long narratives, shorts, and documentaries. The last day for signing up for the festival was January 31.
The festival’s administration is to host several activities, including organising an international symposium on “Digital Cinema”, in coordination with the French Film Treasury, to be attended by Moroccan and international figures to enrich the national film scene, and to provide opportunities for communication among all components.
It is worth mentioning that the administration decided to organise a round table discussion on the image of Tetouan in Moroccan cinema, in addition to setting up training workshops for film students and organising a ceremony to pay tribute to several film stars like Mohamed Ismail and actor Mohamed Majd.
