More than 20,000 spectators in the German capital Berlin positively reacted to the melodies of the Abu Dhabi Police (ADP) Music Band as they played their national and traditional pieces in the Max-Schmeling-Halle, the dedicated hall for grand music concerts in the city. The performances were a part of the Berlin Military Music Festival "Berlin Tattoo 2014" which was held in the Federal Republic of Germany from 31st October to 2nd November 2014.
Colonel Saif Saeed Al Shamesi, Chief of the Cultural and Social Activity Section at the Abu Dhabi Police Clubs and Sports Activities Department, Chairman of the Committee accompanying the Police Music Band, said that the members of the ADP Music Band offered an impressive and distinguished show through their unique music and traditional uniforms designed for the ADP during its establishment. The show started with the "Arab March of Independence" preceded by the Emirati flag, and was followed by a piece representing maritime heritage entitled "Hoa Ya Mal" played with the oyster instrument famous for producing sounds similar to sea waves. Other traditional Emirati songs played by the ADP Music Band included the "Al-Aialah Show" entitled "Dari Almha," in conjunction with the U.A.E. celebrations of its National Flag Day. The show received great response from the audience.
He added, "At the conclusion of its first show, the ADP Music Band surprised the audience with the German March entitled ‘Muss I Denn'. The audience gave a lengthy applause to the band for their precise and creative performance of this renowned German musical piece." "In the evening of the same day, the ADP Music Band participated in a collective show dedicated for military music bands, and is scheduled to present other shows during the ‘Berlin Tattoo 2014' on the 2nd of Nov. The band will also play the their piece of flag music on the U.A.E. National Flag Day at the U.A.E. embassy in Berlin on the 3rd of November at 12 noon (Berlin time) which is in line with the day's celebrations," Colonel Al Shamesi continued.
He explained that the shows performed throughout the various parts of Berlin by the ADP Music Band come as a response to an invitation from the U.A.E. embassy in Germany. The performances include a show on the evening of the 3rd Nov. in the Berlin Mall. The shows will conclude in the Federal Republic of Germany with performances in the Alexanderplatz Square on the 4th and the 5th of Nov.
He noted that many international military music bands participate in this international festival in Berlin highlighting their keenness to be available locally and globally, and to interact with various people. Through their participation, the ADP Music Band endeavours to introduce the true U.A.E. heritage, and to reflect the image of modernity enjoyed by the local community that includes an artistic heritage rich with patriotism and with the union of the U.A.E. community.
Colonel Al Shamesi further explained that the festival is an important event with a long history for including military bands, and is considered to be one of the most important events in Europe and the world. He noted that the organising committee selects only the most distinguished bands to participate in the event.
