Image Nation Abu announced yesterday that its critically acclaimed documentary 'Every Last Child' is now available to download on iTunes in the Middle East.
Released in 2014, the film tells the true and dramatic story of five people caught up in the Polio crisis in Pakistan, has gained critical acclaim around the world, screened at several film festivals and only just released in cinemas in USA.
The documentary was also embraced by the global initiative to end Polio and screened at events around the world by organisations such as the United Nations, UNESCO, World Health Organisation, the UAE-European Parliament Friendship Group and at a Majlis event by His Highness Shaikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi and Deputy Supreme Commander of the UAE Armed Forces.
Produced by Image Nation and directed by the BAFTA award-winning filmmaker Tom Roberts, 'Every Last Child' was filmed on the front line of the current polio crisis in Pakistan. A few years ago, polio persisted in only three countries (Pakistan, Afghanistan and Nigeria) and the number of victims was steadily decreasing. However, when the Taliban issued a ban against the polio vaccination, and attacked vaccinators, Pakistan's campaign was ruined.
Once at the brink of eradication, the disease is again a global threat with Pakistan at the centre of the spread. This documentary follows its subjects - a medical specialist, a vaccinator, a vaccination sceptic, an adult polio victim and a sick child - through heartbreaking stories, violence and even bloodshed.
According to the filmmakers, it takes only two drops of the inexpensive vaccine that can be administered by anyone, orally, to provide long-lasting immunity against polio, yet misconceptions spread by Taleban has led to violence and resulted in the murder of 60 people (volunteers) trying to save children from polio.
'Every Last Child' is available for download for Dh29.99 - here.
