Abu Dhabi Tourism and Culture Authority, TCA Abu Dhabi, will announce 2016's top festivals and activities during its Roadshow Campaign in the capital cities of the GCC as it actively promotes Abu Dhabi as a unique destination with a year-long programme of events for families and tourists alike.
Headlining these events will be the action-packed Red Bull Air Race, which forms part of the Abu Dhabi Aerospace and Aviation Week in March. The race features world-class acrobatic pilots who will be flying their planes at incredible speeds whilst twisting and turning through a tough slalom course with the aim of recording the fastest lap time.
In addition, the always eagerly anticipated Formula 1 Etihad Airways Abu Dhabi Grand Prix in November will see the finest Formula 1 race car drivers reaching top speeds of more than 300 KPH as they battle each other on the Yas Marina Circuit for the closing race of the 2016 Formula 1 season.
"The UAE's capital of Abu Dhabi continues to live up to its well-established reputation as a preferred and sought-after destination for exciting family-oriented fun and entertainment," said Sultan Al Mansoori, GCC Country Manager, TCA Abu Dhabi. "For 2016, we have worked even harder to bring bigger and better events that offer more fun and excitement. Accordingly, we would like to encourage families and tourists from the GCC to carefully plan their year-long calendar in order not to miss out on their favourite events," Al Mansoori added.
The host of other events programmed throughout the year that truly make Abu Dhabi a year-long family-oriented destination include Abu Dhabi Classics. Running until the 10th of May from its launch in October last year, the eight-month-long event features 26 classical concerts and performances by some of the world's leading musicians, orchestras and the most prestigious names in Western and Eastern classical music. These performances will take place in the UAE capital, Saadiyat Island, Liwa desert and other historic sites in the emirate's heritage heartland of Al Ain.
Once the summer months kick in, the whole family can also enjoy three months of thrilling activities and entertainment in Abu Dhabi Summer Season 2016. Fun-filled events include superb comedy acts, world-famous children's shows, star-studded concerts, international theatre shows and much more. With a host of hotels and attractions offering attractive packages and special Summer Season promotional offers, the entire family can also indulge in enjoyable shopping sprees at various shopping malls. Further adding to all the fun and excitement is the chance to win amazing prizes with the mega promotions and raffle draws throughout Abu Dhabi Summer Season 2016.
In December 2016, the annual Abu Dhabi Food Festival is all set to team up with SIAL Abu Dhabi, the region's professional business platform for the food, drink and hospitality industries, to bring together all the ingredients for a food extravaganza across the emirate. Spread over three weeks, the festival, which attracted over 50,000 visitors last year, will incorporate the already established and popular Street Feast, Emirati Kitchen and Gourmet Abu Dhabi strands.
