Algeria will participate in the 85th edition of Oscar Academy Awards with the historical film Zabana. The film, directed by Saied Ould Khalifa, was produced on the occasion of the 50th anniversary of Algerian independence. The story tells the story of hero Ahmed Zabana, a revolutionary militant who was executed before independence.
Emad Sheny, who incarnates Ahmed Zabana, gave an exclusive interview to Arabstoday.
The actor felt that the film being chosen for the Oscar Academy Awards was the best reward ever.
The young actor added that the movie was able to compete with all the films released in the last few months. He said Algeria could only enter the Oscar Academy Awards with a historical film as Algeria is celebrating its independence this year.
The film, written by Ezz el-Deen Mayhoby, tells the story and the struggle of Ahmed Zabana, a young militant who participated in the liberation of his country. He was the first militant to be executed by guillotine in Serkadji prison.
The poet Mofdy Zakaria wrote a poem “The rising carcass” to honour his memory.
