Asham is made up of six interlocking short stories
Egyptian movie director Maggie Morgan will participate in the International Eastern Film Festival in Geneva, with her film, Asham. Morgan will attend the showing of Asham on Thursday, April 18 in the
feature films competition.
After several documentaries and medium-length films, Asham is the first feature length project in Morgan’s career. It is also her first experience in writing.
Asham features many young and older stars, among them the famous director Mohammad Khan, theatre director Mahmoud Lozi, and the young faces; Amina Khalil, Salma Salem, Saif al-Aswani, Shady Habashi, Ali Qassem, Marwa Tharwat, Mona Shimi, Mina al-Najjar, Najla Younis, Noha Kholi, Hani Iskandar and Hani Seif.
The film presents six interlocking stories revolving around ambition, frustration and hope. The characters meet and their stories intertwine on the streets of Cairo which itself is on the brink of change
The film was previously featured in the Doha Tribeca Film Festival. The festival was held in the Qatari capital Doha in November 2012.
