Food accolades galore were once again awarded to the consummate Al Jawaher Reception & Convention Centre (JRCC) chef team at the recent East Coast Fujairah Culinary Competition. The competition, which was Held at Miramar Al Aqah Beach Resort on the 8th and 9th of June, saw the JRCC team receiving the 3rd highest score overall.
Competing again 30 participating hospitality industry establishments, the chefs - lead by the Executive Chef Rami Jebraeil - more than held their own against over 100 local and international cooks.
At the final count, the JRCC team took home 10 awards (1 gold, 4 silver, 5 bronze) and one merit competing against more than 300 culinary entries in different categories. The team shone across a broad range of categories, including: Three-Course Gourmet Dinner Menu, Pralines & Nougatines, and Cake Decoration-Practical and Beef Practical Cookery.
Chef Jebraiel was born in Syria and has been Executive Chef at JRCC since early 2013. He has extensive kitchen experience in five-star hotels across the UAE, including The Ritz-Carlton (Dubai), Fairmont (Dubai), and Ramada Downtown Dubai, as well as the Ramada Hotel & Suites Ajman. He is a passionate and exciting cook, with phenomenal leadership skills as demonstrated by his team's fantastic performance at the competition.
Commenting on the outcome, Chef Jebraiel said, “I am particularly proud that for the second time, a team of Jawaher cooks has participated both locally and internationally. This is one of the more important events in which we compete, and our team of seven chefs managed to win ten medals. In addition, we were awarded third place out of thirty-one contending local and international teams, despite the difficulties we faced during the event’s preparatory stages. I really appreciate all the efforts that go into organising such an affair, as it provides a platform for chefs to demonstrate their cooking styles as well as develop their skills.”
Organised by the ECG and the World Association of Chefs Societies, the East Coast Fujairah Culinary Competition hosted a panel of certified judges from the UAE and abroad.
Hanan Mohammed Al Mahmoud, Director of JRCC, said, "We are delighted with the outcome and are reaping the rewards of our second official participation in such a prestigious competition in the culinary field. We competed in the Emirates Culinary Guild’s Salon Culinaire last February and won six medals as well as a certificate of appreciation. Now we raise our wins to ten in this event. These accolades underscore our commitment to ensure Jawaher’s high standards are highlighted at the largest forums and competitions and, more importantly, motivate us to continue to invest in, and encourage, our team to constantly strive for excellence.”
JRCC- Sharjah’s top location for events and celebrations - will offer a spectacular Majles for families and friends to dine and spend quality time with one another this Ramadan from June 18th to July 17th.
