Welcomed by President His Highness Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan, His Majesty King Mohammed VI of Morocco, this evening inaugurated the Moroccan-Heritage Week, at the Abu Dhabi National Exhibition Centre and the Abu Dhabi Equestrian Club.
Held under the patronage of the King of Morocco, the inauguration ceremony was attended by H.H. Sheikh Tahnoun bin Mohammed Al Nahyan, Abu Dhabi Ruler`s Representative in the Eastern Region and H.H. Sheikh Hazza bin Zayed Al Nahyan, National Security Advisor and Deputy Chairman of Abu Dhabi Executive Council.
The sessions of the Moroccan-Heritage Week will continue until 11th December under the supervision of the Ministry of Presidential Affairs. The event comes within the framework of boosting the historic and fraternal ties with the Kingdom of Morocco in all fields. The Moroccan-Heritage Week showcases the authentic Moroccan arts and civilisation.
Sheikh Hazza thanked King Mohammed VI for opening the event that would enable Emiratis and residents to acquaint themselves with the Moroccan cultural heritage. He added that the attendance of the King of Morocco and his inauguration of the event that coincided with the UAE's 44th National Day anniversary "reflect the depth of the UAE-Moroccan relations embodied in the best forms of fraternity and solidarity."
"This special relationship is growing stronger day after day, thanks to the wise visions of the wise leaders of the two sisterly countries," Sheikh Hazza said.
The King of Morocco toured the exhibition, which features the cultural, artistic and historic components of the Moroccan civilisation.
Accompanied by Sheikh Tahnoun and Sheikh Hazza, King Mohammed VI also toured the Abu Dhabi Equestrian Club, where they were briefed about 'Art de Tbourida", a traditional Moroccan equestrian sports that dates back to 15th century, and other folklore activities.
The inauguration ceremony was also attended by Prince Moulay Rachid of Morocco, H.H. Sheikh Nahyan bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Chairman of the Board of Trustees of Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan Charitable and Humanitarian Foundation, H.H. Lt. General Sheikh Saif bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of the Interior, H.H. Sheikh Tahnoun bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Deputy National Security Advisor, H.H. Sheikh Mansour bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Presidential Affairs, H.H. Sheikh Hamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Chief of the Abu Dhabi Crown Prince's Court, H.H. Sheikh Khalid bin Zayed Al Nahyan Chairman of the Board of Zayed Higher Organisation for Humanitarian Care and Special Needs (ZHO), Sheikh Nahyan bin Mubarak Al Nahyan, Minister of Culture, Youth and Community Development Sheikh Sultan bin Tahnoun Al Nahyan, Chairman of Abu Dhabi Transport Department, a number of Sheikhs, ministers and senior officials of the two countries.
