Mega Mall Sharjah, Sharjah’s leading shopping destination, is set to host the 6th annual edition of the Sharjah Stamps Exhibition 2016, one of the most prominent cultural events hosted by the emirate, during the period of 8-12 of November 2016.
Mohammed Ahmed Al Murr, former speaker of the FNC, and Abdullah Khory, President of the Emirates Philatelic Association will inaugurate the event on Tuesday. The prestigious exhibition comes in cooperation with the Emirates Philatelic Association, bringing together a group of philatelists, stamp exhibitors and enthusiasts, showcasing wide-range collections of stamps, postcards, and valuable banknotes and items.
The exhibition will encompass a unique collection of postage stamps, its history and value in the UAE and across the world. Moreover, it is considered an ideal platform for stamps’ enthusiasts to buy, sell, swap, and trade in stamps and other valuable items.
Speaking ahead of the event, Mohammed Sorour, Marketing Manager of Mega Mall, said: “We are proud to host the Stamp exhibition for the sixth consecutive year, which is an ideal cultural platform for the exchange, collection and acquisition of stamps.
The exhibition attracts a group of the most influential collectors of stamps from the UAE and the world, this is mainly due to the exhibition’s exceptional reputation, as it plays a major role in educating the public on diverse groups of important and rare stamps, their date of issuance, stages of development, and the social and political occasion that triggered their issuance. Societies keep memory of their own past, through stamps, an aspect which, in fact, is fundamental to their identity, culture, and heritage. Stamps have documented milestones historical eras of the UAE, the region, and the world. “

Many postal authorities, stamp traders and collectors will participate in the event. Besides, an auction featuring rare postal stamps will take place on the sidelines of the exhibition.
During the five-day exhibition, visitors will be able to inspect and view Arab and international postage albums, designs, marks and perforations. The Stamps on display will reflect stories of the Islamic, Arab and International civilizations since postage stamps were first used in the region
