Moroccan National Debate Team Bangkok, Thailand August 5th to the 15th, The Moroccan National High School Debate Team will be the first Moroccan Team in history to participate in the World Schools Debating Championship, the world’s biggest high school debate tournament with teams representing over 60 different countries from 5 different continents. About WSDC is an annual tournament which takes place in different countries each year. The tournament is the world biggest and most prestigious high school debate tournament in the world. WSDC is a tournament which is only open to high school students who are under the age of 20 years old and are enrolled students to a school of the country they will be representing. About The coach Soufiane Choubani, will be leading a team representing Morocco for the first time, to the World Schools Debating Championship this August! This is one of the largest high school debate championships in the world. The honour of representing Morocco goes to Nouhaila and Ghali of American School of Tangier, Hiba of American School of Marrakech, Yassin El Youssfi and Zakaria Jebari of Amicitia, Fes American School and soon to be others. The team will have the opportunity to compete for the overall trophy, the EFL trophy, and the New Entry trophy. TEAM SITE http://www.teammorocco.org
The coach has had a very successful start to his career as a debate coach. The first team he coached, Sunderland University Debate Team, went undefeated in the season with 11 wins and 0 losses. The team won the first ever Moroccan National English Debate Tournament in April of 2013 and also won the Regional Tournament in Casablanca just a month after. The Coach was selected as one of the two Moroccan National Coaches along with his university team to represent Morocco at the USA-Maghreb Youth Debates. His team reached the final against Tunisia and won the event. He is currently focused and committed to the MNDT and believes they can reach the finals. No team from Africa has ever won the tournament.
His recent success has inspired the President of the “Great Debaters of Moroccan” National Debate Organization, Rajae Boujnah, to assist him in this project and believes in him with full confidence. She has our full support and is currently helping us obtain more sponsorship contracts. The Team is seeking full and partial sponsorships.
