Kutubiyya Mosque, the largest mosque in Marrakech
The Moroccan government announced it will be allocating a sum of money to help prevent the infiltration of Islamists in mosques around Europe
.
According to Moroccan security agencies, extremist organisations are active in mosques in Western European countries where they are promoting violence.
These organisations are allegedly recruiting young people of Moroccan descent in France, Spain, Italy and the United Kingdom to take part in violent conflicts or terrorist operations in several Islamic and Arab countries.
Morocco also decided to send several of its most respected imams to preach in Europe and sources say it will begin building mosques in European cities with large Moroccan populations.
The preachers for these mosques will be also appointed by Morocco to prevent the spread of any extremist ideology.
