The story of history and its great heroism can be summed up in educational books, through specialized encyclopedias that read a specific period of time and space. Dr. Wafa Al Shamsi, an Omani writer, began her dialogue session in Sharjah Children's Reading Festival (SCRF) about the role of historical tournaments in building a child's personality.
Al Shamsi indicated that she recently conducted a field survey to measure the attitudes of opinion in her governorate in Oman about the ways in which children love to learn about historical events.
She confirmed that the results of the survey showed that 95% of children prefer to know history by reading the historical stories, which are framed in an attractive and beautiful literary form supported by attractive images.
She said that the historical story is one of the most important educational tools that the child tends in his search for historical facts. Besides, story contributes greatly in forming child's personality and enhances the positive values of the child. "Story makes the child able to compare his personality and the characters of the story to take the positive aspects," she said.
