Characters from the popular TV series Sesame Street “IFTAH YA SIMSIM” brought joy and laughter to children and parents gathering the first day of the festival at Al Majaz Waterfront, with the life-size Muppets appearing as part of the 10th edition of the “Sharjah Food Festival”. The annual culinary event is being organised by the “Sharjah Investment and Development Authority” (Shurooq) and is featuring an array of cookery and entertainment offerings as part of its extensive programme of activities.
The presence of the famous characters at the Sharjah Food Festival stimulated fathers and mothers attending to recall their memories about Sesame Street, one of the most popular children's TV series and one that was broadcast by Arab TV channels for many years. For their turn, children participating at the event were excited to be able to meet and greet the much-loved Muppets from the show, which is back on air again this year.
The “Sesame Street” “IFTAH YA SIMSIM” characters enthralling young and old alike at Al Majaz Waterfront included “Grover”, “Elmo”, “Ernie”, “Anis”, “Bernie”, “Cookie Monster” and “Noman”. The stars presented a range of musical dance performances in a captivating manner, just as they do in the educational TV series.
Capitalising on its fame as one of the most popular and successful TV programs for children in Arab states, the Sesame Street “IFTAH YA SIMSIM” characters performed a number of routines that aimed to inspire little ones and instill within them positive values, such as cooperation, tolerance, compassion and the importance of respecting their neighbours. The characters were keen to interact with the audience, with the children gathering around them to have memento photographs taken.
Following their appearance at Al Majaz Waterfront, the Muppets are proceeding to Sharjah Food Festival’s other destinations over the forthcoming days; Al Qasba, Al Montazah and Heart of Sharjah, to enable all visitors to enjoy their unique entertainment offering during the 10-day culinary event.
Taking place under the theme ‘Many Flavours, One Festival,’ the 10th Sharjah Food Festival is featuring an array of entertaining performances, live cooking demonstrations from international celebrity chefs and culinary competitions. A variety of food and drink from the four corners of the world is available at stalls and kiosks that are spread over the four festival venues.
