The Sharjah Children Biennial- the first of its kind event dedicated to children in the UAE and the region- is organising eight art workshops at the Children’s Centre in Mughayder, designed to develop the artistic skills of children and young people in the art forms of painting, design, composition and cinematography, during the period from 11th January to 9th February.
The 4th edition of the Sharjah Children Biennial is organised by the Department of Sharjah Children Centres in collaboration with the Sharjah Museums Department (SMD). The workshops are taking place in the Biennial’s second location after having moved from the Sharjah Art Museum to the Children centre in Mughayder.
The Sharjah Children Biennial has been eager to organise workshops that are specifically designed to help children learn new skills under the supervision of experts in the art forms of painting, design, composition, and cinematography.
Preparations are already in place to present the workshops in the best possible manner in order to enable the participating children and young people to enjoy learning and developing their artistic skills. The workshops will be held in two shifts, the morning from 10am-12noon, and the evening from 5-7pm.
The new workshops include the Lego workshop, being conducted in cooperation with the Go Glocal, and another workshop titled “60 Seconds of Invisible Painting”, which allows children to draw their faces without looking in the mirror. Children will also have a chance to see films in collaboration with FUNN foundation. The films include a series of films that portrays the worlds of childhood and develop their sense of imagination. The films will be showed once a week on Thursday 22nd and 29th January, from 5-7pm.
Another workshop titled “Making Medals of Wool” will be held daily in the morning from 10am-12 noon, as well as the workshop titled “Cap Design” that takes place weekly, on Monday and Wednesday, from 10am-12 noon.
The schedule of workshops also includes three other workshops designed to develop the skills of bag and balloon painting and colouring by fingers. The workshops will be held daily, with the bag painting workshop being held from 10am-12 noon, the balloon painting workshop taking place in two shifts, the morning, from 10 am-12 noon, and the evening from 5-7 pm, and the finger, colouring workshop being held only in the evening between 5-7 pm.
