The supreme culinary talents of Sharjah Ladies Club (SLC) chefs have been recognised with a plethora of awards at the 5thEast Coast Culinary Competition, which took place at Miramar, Al Aqah Beach Resort, Fujairah, recently. A total of eight SLC chefs were honoured at the gourmet-themed event, which wasendorsed by World Association of Chef Societies and saw the participation of 400 chefs from hotels across the UAE.
Included in the tally of awards for the SLC chefs were two top titles; ‘Best in Arabic Cuisine’ and ‘Best in Arabic Pastry,’with the haul also seeing two Golds, six Silvers and a Bronzes. Two SLC entrants, Tessie Dalangin Cano and ColabageSamitha Fernando, excelled by winning in more than one category, having impressed the judges with their culinary prowess with Arabic dishes.
“The high standard of its offerings have been proven with the top awards given to these eight chefs from SLC at the 5thEast Coast Culinary Competition, all of whom have participated in SLC’s various cookery programmes. The names, categories and level of awards of the SLC winners from the5thEast Coast Culinary Competitionwere as follows: DalumurugamaAtige Mahesh (Cake Decoration – Gold), Rodney Lorenzo Ramos (Arabic Mezzeh Practical – Gold), Tessie Dalangin Cano (Three Course Arabic Dinner Menu – Silver, Arabic Mezzeh Practical – Silver and ‘Best in Arabic Cuisine’), DinushiNimeshaEkanayake (Wedding Cake Three Tier by Anchor/Fonterra – Silver), Joby Paul (Beef Practical Cookery by US Beef – Silver), BalKishan (Arabic Mezzeh Practical – Silver), ColabageSamitha Fernando (Three Plates of Desserts- Arabic – Silver and ‘Best in Arabic Pastry) and YadavParajuli (Chicken Practical Cookery By US Poultry–Bronze).
