Sharjah Ladies Club’s Collage Talent Centre proudly hosted its annual ballet show at the Kunooz Ballroom recently.
The recital, which featured solo acts and group dances by students ranging in age from 4 to 17 years old, offered the audience a chance to see the depth and breadth of talent emerging from the facility’s ballet programme, which is geared towards teaching and inspiring young girls.
Speaking on the event, Sara Al Marzouqi, Collage Talent Center Manager at Sharjah Ladies Club said, “The ballet recital is considered to be the highlight of our dancers’ experience at the Talent Centre, as it gives them the chance to showcase their hard work, dedication, and the progress they have made throughout the year. It is also a special time for their families, who get to celebrate the dancers’ achievements.”
She added, “The aims of Collage include uncovering and fostering creative talent and empowering young girls. The ballet programme is the perfect vehicle for this – we have found that the experience of getting on stage, performing for an audience, and being applauded for their efforts often fill these young dancers with self-confidence, which carries them in all aspects of school and life.”
The event opened at 6:00pm, the performance started shortly thereafter and proceedings concluded at 9:00pm.
The Collage Talent Centre is a place for women and children to gain and develop creative knowledge and skills. In addition to its ballet programme, the facility offers a variety of art classes, including pottery, jewellery making, flower arranging and drawing, as well as piano and language classes, Quran teaching, cooking, etiquette, website design, photography and more, the talent centre also consists of a library and a saloon that caters for women and children.
Collage also offers a Tiny Talents programme, which encourages children to learn through play, to acquire essential knowledge and to enhance social and behavioural skills. In addition, it hosts various seasonal camps for youngsters throughout the year.
