Cairo – Yousry Mohammed

Suez port Cairo – Yousry Mohammed A shipping line between Suez and Duba, in Saudi Arabia, is expected to bring in revenues of £250 million for the Egyptian ports treasury. General Mohammed Abdul Qader Gaballah said the line has opened up access into non-traditional markets, at economically priced rates and fast speeds.
His comments followed the departure of the Olympus ferry from the port of Adabiya, in Suez, transporting Egyptian cargo on 120 Turkish trucks to port Duba in Saudi Arabia, on Thursday.
“This line transports goods between Egypt, Turkey, Saudi Arabia and the Gulf countries using the Ro-Ro system,” he added.
Its expected the line will double Egypt’s agricultural and electronic exports to North Iraq, Azerbaijan, Russia, Georgia, Kazakhstan, Ukraine and Iran.
The line will work twice a week, with each load carrying 160 trucks in the 19 hour journey.
The Turkish trucks transfer the Egyptian exports returning from the Gulf,  Turkey and other nearby places such as Russia, Georgia, Kazakhstan and North Iraq.
The first Turkish-Egyptian shipping, Port Said, in Mersin, started operating at the end of April. .
