More than 100 employees, including strategic managers and senior officials representing various federal government entities, took part in a workshop organised by the UAE government to involve federal government entities in the preparations for the upcoming Strategic Plan 2017-2021, which is aimed at achieving the National Agenda and the ambitious goals of the UAE Vision 2021.
On the occasion, Ohood Al Roumi, Director-General of the Prime Minister's Office, highlighted the importance of the workshop titled ‘Guidelines for the 4th Strategic Plan 2017-2021' in supporting government entities in the preparations for the 4th Strategic Plan, especially since the latest Strategic Plan constituted the last phase of the UAE Vision 2021.
"Shaping the future is a key priority for the government in the next stage of the Strategic Plan. This requires more training on the tools and efforts to strengthen government innovation, successful planning, and increased performance efficiency. It is important to support coordinated efforts and team work to ensure the achievement of our national goal to make the UAE one of the best countries in the world," Al Roumi said.
Al Roumi said the new Strategic Plan requires greater efforts and enhanced government performance, especially in terms of strategic planning as well as financial and functional efficiency. These can be achieved by increasing the focus on quality projects and working on innovative ideas to serve people better and enhance the leading competitive status of the UAE.
The 4th Strategic Plan represents an important step towards achieving the UAE Vision 2021. The previous phases of the Plan witnessed the launch of the National Agenda and the launch of the fourth generation of Government Excellence System.
The Prime Minister's Office team reviewed the timetable for the development and delivery modules for the 4th Strategic Plan 2017-2021. Each of the previous plans was for three years, but the government has decided to expand the latest plan to five years until 2021, as the targets of the National Agenda have been set before the stakeholders.
The team addressed a number of important issues of focus with regard to the development of strategic plans. These represent the principles and methodologies which contribute to enhancing government performance and efficiency, and include 7 Star Services, Government Innovation, Shaping the Future, Focus on Results, and Financial Efficiency. Federal and local government entities, the private sector, citizens and the society as a whole have been urged to work together to achievement these objectives.
The team said that federal government entities will rely on previous initiatives to develop the 4th Strategic Plan 2017-2021, which include the UAE Vision 2021, the National Agenda, Government Excellence System, Smart Government Initiative, and the National Innovation Strategy.
The previous plans included the launch of a number of important initiatives that have contributed to the promotion of the UAE in strategic planning sector in the region and the world.
