An Egyptian film crew is facing a lawsuit for featuring an old Islamic song in their film “Abdo Mota” (Dead Abdo). It was reported that the film used a traditional Islamic song about Fatima al-Zahra
(daughter of Prophet Mohammed) and turned it into a rowdy dance song featuring belly dancer Dina.
The Director of Political and Legal Research Centre Dr Ahmed Mahran has taken legal action against the crew and reported the case to the censorship authorities in Egypt.
It was filed against producer Ahmed El-Sobky, actor Mohamed Ramadan and dancer Dina.
Dr Mahran said all screenings of the film should be suspended until the song has been edited out.
He said the song offended Islam and should not be shown to members of the public.
