Egyptian actress Bushra
The Egyptian actress, Bushra, confirmed that being involved in film production made her see the film industry from another perspective, and understand new concepts, but she pledged to
give up the production if it took her from acting.
Bushra told 'Arabstoday that entertainment is a concept and has bases that should be studied, and the producer should have diversity in films, like the actors who should have diversity in their performances.
She also stressed that; the producer shouldn’t concentrate on producing only one kind of movies, and the commercial concept should be taken in consideration with the social and other concepts.
Bushra also revealed the reasons behind postponing her coming movie ‘Geddo Habebi’ or ‘My darling, Grandfather’, saying “there are two main reasons for postponing. The first because of the director Ali Idris, who wanted to double check his work technically before the screening, and the second reason was because of the distributing company, which decided to screen ‘Amn Dawlat’ movie in the Adha season, as it’s a comedy film.” She also pointed out that she agreed on this decision, especially her movie can be screened in any season.
Bushra said that the distribution company had not decided yet, when the movie will be screened, stressing that, this decision is not in her responsibility as she is only an actress, and didn’t do anything related to the production in this movie.
About the reasons that made her accept this role, she said “the idea of bringing different generations at one film, is what attracted me,” referring to the participant of the Egyptian stars Mahmoud Yassin and Lubna Abdel-Aziz.
She stressed the idea of communication between different generations in movies, saying “we need to stop making movies for young generation only, but we should start that kind of movies in which every member of the family can find something that attracts them to the movie.”
Bushra added that she is so proud of working with the Egyptian star Lubna Abdel-Aziz after her return to acting, and working with Mahmoud Yassin who has a great history, as he performed in 175 movies.
About Asmaa movie, starring Tunisian actress Hend Sabri, and got many Arabic and International awards, which was produced by Bushra, she assured that, she loves this movie which complete ‘678’ movie, pointing out that, those two movies didn’t come up with new ideas, as those ideas had been discussed in many movies before.
Bushra said that the late great Egyptian director Atef Al-Tayeb inspired a lot of young filmmakers to discuss serious social issues in their movies, referring to some of these movies such as: One-Zero and Black Honey movie.
But what characterized ‘678’ and Asmaa movies were that about 75% of the crew was young people, under 30s, she added.
She pointed out that, those two movies had started a new period in Egypt’s film industry, as ‘678’ movie is still screening in many European countries and USA.
Bushra concluded the interview by saying that she will never let the production to take her from acting, and she will give up production if it stole her from being an actress.
