Egyptian actress Ghada Adel Egyptian actress Ghada Adel gave Arabstoday an exclusive interview about her new role in the series "Ser Alany" (Declared Secret). She said: "I started to feel the success of the series after the broadcast of the first episode. I met a girl who recognised me as Dr. Amina, who's the character I'm playing.
"I can tell a series is successful when the audience remembers the names of the characters.
"Playing Dr Amina was one of the most difficult roles I've had so far. She's a really complex character but the scenario was really well written and the director was very helpful, which made it a lot easier.
"I don't like difficult roles. I always think: "no more difficult roles!" But this time the character was new and different to what I did before, so I thought I'd give it a go."
Ghada denied the rumours according to which the role was designed for her: "I hate designing roles as I can't ask someone else to do it for me. This is the first step towards failure. For this particular series, we had a meeting with the actors and the director, and I don't deny that I made a few changes to the character for the benefit of the series."
"We changed the title of the series a few times. We wanted something that really represents the depicted events in it. We first thought of 'Mamlaket Eblis' (Kingdom of the Devil). We then changed it from 'al-Ahd' (The Covenant) to 'Ser Alany' (Declared Secret)," she said.
Ghada said that the series is about the secret rise of Egypt.
She also mentioned her relationships with the other actors on the set.
"I adore Shwikar. I've followed her since my childhood but I could never have imagined that one day I would work with her. I want to thank her for accepting the role. She's a huge asset for the series and she gave me a lot of confidence and guidance."
When asked about introducing two new series during Ramadan, she said: "I didn't mean to introduce two series during Ramadan, it just happened. I don't think it'll be prejudicial for me to have two series being broadcast at the same time. But the two roles are completely different: in 'Ser Alany' I am playing the role of a professor and in 'Farah El Omda' the role of a local girl."
When asked if she had a favourite character, she replied: "I loved all my roles, I don't have a favourite. The audience can choose!"
"Ser Alany" (Declared Secret) stars Eyad Nassar, Samy al-Adl, Ahmed Fahmy, Maya Nasry, Feras Saeed and Nadia Khairey. The series is written by Mohamed Nayer and directed by Ghada Selim.
"Farah El Omda" stars Ayten Amer, Salah Abdallah, Saeed Saleh, Hassan al-Radad. The series is written by Mostafa Ibrahim and directed by Ahmed Sakr.
