Egyptian actress Nelly Karim
Cairo - Khaled Ali

Egyptian actress Nelly Karim Egyptian actress Nelly Karim expressed concerns about her country's future, describing the current situation after the first round of the presidential elections as "shameful," and admitted that she was bored with politics, and tries to concentrate only on her work and her family.
The results of the first round of Egypt's presidential elections produced a run-off between the former regime-linked figure Ahmed Shafiq, and the Muslim Brotherhood candidate Mohammed Morsi.
Interviewed by Arabstoday, Nelly said: "The current situation in Egypt shows signs of danger for the country's future, as  Egyptians now lack the state of unity they enjoyed during the early stages of the January 25 revolution, when all the people were united behind certain goals."
She added: "I feel there is a state of confusion recently amongst the people regarding the political scene, that is why I decided not to watch any political shows on TV, after I realised that all the speculation on these shows is just an endless repeat."
Nelly did not agree with calls to boycott  the run-off round between Morsi and Shafiq, but did not disclose who she will be voting for.
On the artistic side, Nelly spoke about her new series "Zat", which is expected  to be broadcast during Ramadan, saying that all the cast and crew members are making extraordinary efforts to finish filming the series in time and with the maximum production values.
Speaking about the tough competition expected with  many series' about to air  starring  prominent actors such as Adel Imam, Mahmoud Abdelaziz, Karim Abdelaziz and Ahmed al-Saqqa, Nelly said she was happy with this level of competition "as it will be for the good of both the viewers and the drama industry", adding that she wishes good luck to all her fellow actors in achieving success in this year's Ramadan season.
Nelly denied reports which claim she turned down an offer to star in the movie "al-Samt" (The Silence) for the director Inass al-Digheidi,  saying that she had been open to the idea.
"I didn't reject the movie, but the problem is I have no time now, as filming "Zat" takes up 14 hours a day  in order to finish before Ramadan. If it wasn't for that, I have no reason to say no."
