Egyptian singer and actress Boshra Cairo – Khaled Ali Egyptian singer and actress Boshra has expressed her happiness on the response to her new film “Geddo Habibi” (My Loveble Grandpa), which is now being screened in cinemas.  She also condemned the attack that was directed at her for her recent work with composer Amr Mostafa on the song "Howa Meen?" (Who is He?), saying: “We cannot deny Amr Mostafa’s talent. I don’t think that I have committed a crime by working with him so that I may be subjected to this kind of attack.”
Some have called for the boycott of Amr Mostafa for his views on the Egyptian revolution.
Boshra added: “Work in general requires setting aside our differences and political views.”
In an interview with Arabstoday, Boshra stated that she enjoyed working in her new film, especially, as she finally got work with acting legend Mahmoud Yassin, who she says has influenced her on a professional and personal level through his sense of humour and spontaneity. She was equally happy to work with famous actor Lobna Abdel Aziz in the same film.
"Lobna Abdel Aziz as a very chic actress from a beautiful, bygone era," said Boshra.
Boshra said: “The film is classified as a light comedy. It is a family film which can also be viewed by children.”
She added that what she liked most about the film was that it addressed the issue of kinship through the story of a girl who lived in England most of her life but came back to Egypt to receive her share of her grandfather's inheritance. As she sees him for the first time after many years abroad, each one of them begins to understand the other and their points of view.
Boshra stressed that her song “Werest” (I’ve Inherited), which she sang during the film ,was in the context of the film, and was not unnecessary as some have said.
She is also working on financing and producing films, as she believes that an actor should not just be acting out roles but also go further in their career.
Boshra revealed that she was always keen to discuss issues relating to women in her films, such as film “678,” in which she discusses the issue of sexual harassment. "Being female makes me, naturally, serve and understand women's problems. Women in general suffer from oppression, so as a result it is necessary to highlight these issues," she said.
Boshra said that her absence from television drama series during the last few years was due to the fact that she did not find suitable work.
She concluded by saying that her best moments are when she is with her only child Ismail, as well as saying that her steps in motherhood are improving.
