Lebanese singer, Najwa Karam
Lebanese singer Najwa Karam has said she does not fear turning older, stating she is open about her age, even posting it on her Facebook account. “I was born on February 26 1966. I don’t feel shy about admitting my age
...I am not deceiving myself so why should I do the same with others? I am not denying that I made some improvements but I haven't fully transformed my physical characteristics or changed my features," she said to Arabstoday.
Karam also said she was happy to be on the judging panel of "Arabs Got Talent” because it let her fans see her true self. "I did the show to dispel some misconceptions that people have about me," she said.
The star said she valued her friendship with her fellow jury members, Ali Gaber and Naser el-Kasaby.
"Naser el-Kasaby added a different charm and energy to the programme," she said.
The singer was supposed to begin a huge project after two months, of which she has refused to divulge the details, but she stated that she was getting ready to release a new song soon.
"It's important for artists to do new things so that they remain visible to audiences," she said.
Her last album was considerably successful, despite its controversial song “Ma Fi Noom”.
"I she didn’t give up Alaof, Alataba and Almijana for even one day, but I always sing something new...I consider Ma Fi Noom a new step and a change in my style of singing, it is distinguished by its high technical quality," she added.
"Although the Arab region is heating up, an artist can’t stop working...even producing a single song can turn build up into an entire album, which ensures that the artist stays relevant," she said.
Najwa commented on rumours of her relationship with Melhem Barakat, saying: “We're just friends...I support Melhem Barakat in raising the Lebanese flag, I don’t know why people keep asking why I stick to singing in only my country’s language, but I will do that until the day I die!"
"Though it's not easy to have friends in this industry, I'm proud to say I'm friends with Melhem Barakat, Waleed Tawfiq, Assi el-Hellani as well as journalsits Joumana Bo Eid and Mona Abu Hamza," she finished.
