Hollywood will host the first Tunisian Film Festival from January 10 to 12 2012
In celebration of the first anniversary of the Tunisian uprising, Hollywood will host the first Tunisian Film Festival from January 10 to 12 2012, which will be organized by a non-profit organization
(Free Tunisia).
Free Tunisia held a seminar in Tunis led by the festival director, Bashir Balaghi speaking via video conference from California.
Balaghi stated that this will be an annual festival which aims to promote freedom of expression through creativity and arts in Tunisia.
He added that the festival will screen Tunisian short and long films, while the opening ceremony will include a film byMohamed Ali Nahdi (Project), Majdi Msiri (Fausse Note), Rafik Omrani (2011 Fallega) and Hager Ben Nasr (Abul Kacem ILChebbi).
Whereas the second day will include three movies: Separations for Fathi Saidi, Cinecitta for Ibrahim Letaief and Moisson magique for Anis Lassoued.
There will also be music concerts with Tunisian artists Hamza Malouch and Yasser Jeradi, as well as Mark Levine, and MC-Rai.
The festival will include film makers and artist workshop, organized by the American Film Institute, and the closing ceremony will include a concert by Tunisian artist Emel Mathlouthi.
For his part, Mohamed Kahlani, one of the festival organizers posted on his Twitter account “the Tunisian people are known of their openness and tolerance, and Tunisia was always famous of its civilization and cultural exchange.”
