Lebanese singer Najwa Karam has expressed her happiness after one of the roads in Zahle city was named after her. She confirmed that this step means a lot to her specially as
“she still belongs to the same area where she grew up and lived and has unforgettable memories of it.”
She said to ‘Arabstoday: “It’s very nice that someone can stay in people’s hearts for such a long time, which means that he/she deserves the love, thus he stays in their memories and their hearts.”
I’m so proud of this and I give it a lot of my attention…I’m entrusted with my art, and the people’s love, and this is very important to me.”
She confirmed that she was surprised by Zahle municipality’s initiative, that she couldn’t hide her tears during a TV interview screened on the first day of Eid Al-Adha on MTV and Rotana TV. She was interviewed by presenter Jomana Abo Eed, and was the first time Karam cried on television.
“People’s trust me is more precious than all the gold and the treasure on the earth,” she said, and that it was a big responsibility that she can’t give up.
