On Sunday, October 11th, an exclusive sneak-peek screening of an episode of Oprah Winfrey's BELIEF was hosted at Capital Club, Dubai’s Premier Private City Club and member of the ENSHAA group of companies, to coincide with the global premiere of the series.
Made up of seven parts to be screened over seven consecutive nights, the groundbreaking, weeklong documentary series examines the diverse and powerful spiritual beliefs of various people from around the world.
Hosted by Anne-Marie Martinez, a team member of BELIEF, prominent personalities such as Layne Redman, TV presenter, Liesa Euton, VIP/Protocol and International Relations Director, UAE Athletic Federation and Denis A.K., Editor-in-Chief of The Art of Living magazine, participated in a panel discussion sharing their personal transformation journey and the deeper meaning of life.
“The series is an exploration of powerful and diverse belief systems, spiritual practices and cultural traditions that connect us to ourselves and bond us closer together in community,” said Anne-Marie Martinez, a team member of BELIEF. “I am very proud and honoured to be chosen as of one the representatives of this unparalleled event series which illuminates the best of spiritual and cultural practices from around the world – the rituals, stories and relationships are what bind us together as human beings,” she added.
Speaking on her experiences in opening a domestic abuse shelter in St Maarten and then founding the Dubai Womens’ Run, Euton said, “It’s intrinsic that we all go through cycles. I have three volumes and each one was a significant change to get me to the next location, to the next place.”
“Success is knowing your purpose in life, growing to reach your maximum potential, and sowing seeds that benefit others,” she continued.
Speaking on the enlightening moments in his life that recently led him to appreciate the importance of nutrition, Redman stated, “All of these things that I’ve learnt led me to become accountable. I have a responsibility and a duty to share my information and what I’ve learnt, and it’s through nutrition. Food is medicine, and that’s how I intend to take on the journey of teaching other people.”
Adding to his fellow panelists’ comments, A.K. highlighted the realisation that his relationships lacked a sense of genuineness and that he was stuck in a routine. He said, “I realised my relationships were not authentic. Was it because I wasn’t being authentic with myself? I saw it was time to open myself up and make room for new relationships here and everywhere around the world.”
He went on to say, “To accomplish great things, we must not only act, but also dream:. all our dreams can come true if we have the courage to pursue them.”
