Canadian star Ryan Reynolds as the Green Lantern
Two days before its screening in the United States, on Wednesday, June 15th, United Motion Pictures brings the adventure and sci-fi movie, Green Lantern, to Egypt
.
The new film is based on one of the most beloved comic books of all time, The Green Lantern.
Alongside the Egyptian release, United Motion Pictures is launching a competition, in which winners will get free tickets and exclusive prizes.
The film uses a tremendous amount of visual effects, 133 full visual effects scenes in all. Due to the heavy reliance on expensive effects, director Martin Campbell was forced to increase the already enormous budget by 9 million dollars, capping out at 150 million dollars.
The movie blends live effects, mechanical models, conventional models and makeup. The filmmakers are confident that the effects and screen techniques are executed perfectly, promising the audience an unforgettable 3D experience.
Temuera Morrison, who plays a Abin Sur, an alien in the film, stated that the make-up process took 4-5 hours daily to perfect. A full mechanical model of Abin Sur was made for one scene in the film.
Production plagued the film early on, as Quentin Tarantino and Zack Schneider were both slated to direct on the project but ended up backing out. Martin Campbell eventually took on the film. Audiences will recall his work in The Mask of Zorro, The Legend of Zorro, and recently, Casino Royale.
The story of Green Lantern revolves around Hal Jordan, a pilot in the American Air Force. His destiny is altered when the alien Abin Sur entrusts him with the green power ring, which is possessed by many heroes around the universe. The ring gives its owner super-powers that are supposed to be used for saving the universe. Hal Jordan must join the universe guards as the Green Lantern to establish a universal peace.
The Canadian star Ryan Reynolds wears the hero's costume, portraying the Green Lantern. Ryan has starred in blockbusters such as X-Men Origins: Wolverine? Definitely, Maybe and The Amityville Horror.
The cast includes Blake Lively who plays Carol Ferris, Hal Jordan's love interest, and Peter Sarsgaard, who portrays the villanous Hector Hammond.
