As they did for spring, the Italian fashion house is once again playing up the intensity factor with its 2015 makeup collection. Dolce & Gabbana's newest palette is inspired by the Mediterranean, the blue flowers painted on the white ceramic tiles that decorate Capri and the nude of the bronzed skin on display, but also by the color of one of the designer's summer fragrances, Light Blue.
Generally, cosmetic brands opt for more vibrant shades in summer, accentuating bright tones before giving way to an accent on the mouth or eyes, depending on the desired look. This new season is no exception. Chanel and Yves Saint Laurent have chosen to draw inspiration from the Riviera and Morocco, respectively, while Dolce & Gabbana sails us to Capri and its painted ceramics.
A radiant sun-kissed color
Dolce & Gabbana's Summer Shine collection was created to provide women with bold yet elegant colors and a look of sun-kissed skin. To achieve this look, the Italian brand proposes "The Illuminator" powder in a "Luna" shade ($53) and "The Blush" in "Apricot" ($45).
Around the eyes, women will rely on the "Eyeshadow Duo" for a daytime look with the sky blue "Summer Hue" and matte fuchsia ($44), and on the "Eyeshadow Quad" and its rose, nude and brown shades for a much more natural day to night makeup ($55).
Lips this summer will be coated by a new color, an iridescent semi-transparent light blue. Totally fitting the theme of this new collection, D&G's iconic "Shine Lipstick" has appropriated the "Light Blue" tint, though the less bold can opt for more classic colors like the light orange "Shine On" and the red "Sheer" ($37).
Obviously, the "Light Blue" shade extends to the tip of your fingers thanks to "The Nail Lacquer" line, offering color options such as "Nude Lilac," "Sheer" and "Peachy" ($26).
The "Summer Shine" collection is available at Sephora, Nordstrom and Saks Fifth Avenue.
