HE Minister of Economy and Commerce Sheikh Ahmed bin Jassim bin Mohamed Al-Thani, under the patronage of HE Prime Minister and Minister of Interior Sheikh Abdullah bin Nasser bin Khalifa Al-Thani, inaugurated on Monday the 12th edition of the Doha Jewellery and Watches Exhibition (DJWE).
Organized jointly by Qatar Tourism Authority (QTA), q.media Events and Fira Barcelona, the exhibition is staged at the Qatar National Convention Centre over five days.
Touring the pavilions of the exhibition, HE Sheikh Ahmed bin Jassim underlined the keenness of international companies to participate in the event and to be present in the rapidly-growing Qatari market.
The minister said the country supports the exhibition and offers all kinds of facilitations for it, adding that its success is thanks to the team spirit and cooperation among organizing bodies.
HE Sheikh Ahmed bin Jassim said DJWE is an opportunity to forge deals and enter new markets in the region as it became a destination for exhibitors, providing visitors with a chance to learn about the latest techniques in the jewellery industry.
HE the minister stressed the significance of the exhibition for tourism in Qatar with the influx of large numbers of exhibitors and visitors alike.
For his part, QTA Director of Exhibitions Hamad Al Abdan, said: "The Doha Jewellery and Watches Exhibition (DJWE) attracts a growing number of exhibitors, brands, and visitors year after year to become one of the most anticipated luxury events in the region. We are proud to see international and local brands in the field competing against each other to be present at the show, as we are exerting every effort to improve the show year after another to make it a landmark event in the calendar of luxury events in the region." "QTA is pinning significant hopes on the event’s success especially that we are seeing exclusive pieces launched exclusively during the event and people from across the region awaiting to come and buy luxury sets and creations," he added.
Online registration offsite and onsite was available and a shuttle bus service was provided between the parking area and the main entrance. Visitors were also seen using the golf carts to visit different areas, thereby speeding up their time between pavilions.
"Our special services for VIPs delighted visitors and the media as we have not only valet parking, but also a VIP lounge dedicated for VIPs to rest and relax in, whilst the media have a well-appointed media room at their disposal," said q.media Chief Enterprise Officer Ibrahim Abdullah Al Malki.
