One of the highlights of the first day at New York Fashion Week, BCBGMaxAzria presented a show of soft hues and shapes, held together by structured touches.
Max Azria and his creative director wife Lubov worked with a pretty, pastel paint box for Spring/Summer 2015 with soft pinks and blues appearing as solid tones and mixed into abstract florals alongside plenty of cream, white, and beige.
The whole show was based around floaty layers of fabrics which played with transparency and security. The kimono-style belts were tied almost like bows at the waist, but with a hint of martial arts outfit stiffness, also matched in some of the jackets. The brand knows its woman and there were plenty of classics there too, including a chic white biker jacket and covetable peep-toe suede boots.
That all said, this particular BCBG Max Azria show is important for the way it sees the brand join the latest trend for instantly shoppable clothes collections. Using the LikeToKnow:It tool, fans who 'like' the pieces on Instagram will be sent links to the 13 pieces immediately available for sale by the label. It's a trend that's only going to get bigger, and that was as much the story here as the clothes.
