Marie Bishara Cairo – Sumayya Ibrahim Marie Bishara revealed her latest Fall/Winter 2011 collection in Paris, France. The collection represented Bishara’s usual feminine and sensual designs which combined muslin
silk, creating patterns implemented with high precision. The collection introduced winter coats which were embroidered with arabesques by craftsmen from Khan el-Khalili. Other materials used were Egyptian cotton and turquoise stones. Bishara’s inspiration for her designs comes from old Egyptian pharaohs and Egyptian 1930s film stars. The designer feels that this collection is quite special, especially that it was made during the Egyptian revolution, which she tells Arabstoday has led her to hire security guards to secure her factory and its staff.
