As her new Draper James fashion label debuts, the A-list actress is using a slogan that fits her perfect. Everything she has ever done in the film industry comes up aces and she is always undeniably pretty while playing characters. And the same holds true for her new fashion line that launched among her own locals. “As a proud Nashville native, it only makes sense that Witherspoon open her first brick-and-mortar outpost in her hometown,” reports Vogue.com in an exclusive interview with the actress and very proud mother of three.
Along with Nashville launch of the conservative line that speaks volumes on Southern Living while simultaneously gives a grin to the Legally Blonde star who was known for her fashion sense in character. “I remember when the concept of the first Draper James store was just a blueprint, a plan, a vision. . . . Words can’t describe the feeling I had first walking into the finished Draper James store. Hence the size of my smile,” said Witherspoon.
Out of character for a major picture but very much in character as Reese, the lovely 39-year-old remained real during her launch, even giving a four legged friend some lap time. “My family and I just got a new bull terrier puppy named LuAnn. . . . When I saw this little guy outside the store, I just had to say hello,” said Witherspoon. After the afternoon event, “the night called for a party,” said Witherspoon. “I was honored by the incredible support from women in the Nashville community. Here I am with Reba McEntire and Kacey Musgraves (in a Draper James Collection shirt).”
With one of her favorite singers Ruby Amanfu, performing, Witherspoon took pictures with some of her favorite ladies. “Here I am sandwiched between two strong Southern women: Nashville Mayor Megan Barry and my mom, Betty. Biggest smiles ever.” Along with a clothes collection of Southern swag, Draper James offers more to customers. Between Home & Gifting, Accessories, Jewelry embroidered with southern sayings or even personalized, every item is a reflection of the homemaker first, Hollywood star second.
Getting even more personal on her draperjames.com blog, Witherspoon found time among the launch to share the holiday season with followers, giving a glimpse into the Halloween in her house. What’s it called when a viking, Captain America, and Elvis hang out on the porch? “I love Halloween,” says Reese. “One of the perks of my job as an actress is I get to wear incredible costumes on movies and TV shows, so I keep all of them in a box in my basement and I let my kids and friends borrow from them. They range from a bumblebee to a chicken to a mermaid. I love a good wig and some face paint, too!”
Getting even more personal, the Draper James launch brought much love out of Witherspoon, who shared serious sentiments about her husband and children Ava, Deacon and Tennessee when she accepted the American Cinematheque Award this weekend. “I just want to thank you for all the times you had to say goodbye to your mom while she packed to go on a location or for missing your school trips or special days…or wherever and for understanding that I love my job,” said Witherspoon, who has starred in motion pictures hits Walk the Line, Sweet Home Alabama, Pleasantville and who has also produced Gone Girl.
Saying work “feeds my soul to be creative,” she wished the same to her children. “I hope one day it may feed your soul too and that you’ll teach your children to be hardworking and creative and for knowing in your heart that no matter where I am in the world you are always with me,” said Witherspoon. “I love you more than you will ever know.”
After a clothing line launch, trick-or-treating and accepting an accolade, lets just everything is coming up pretty.
