A different kind of fashion show On the eve of New York Fashion Week’s official opening, several celebrities walked the red carpet in ruby dresses for the 10th annual Heart Truth fashion show, which raises awareness about heart disease
among women. Models, singers and actresses participated in the event including: Gloria Estefan, Chaka Khan and Rebecca Romijn, Rose McGowan and many others.
The show featured a slew of celebrities taking a turn on the catwalk, with the grand finale featuring an elaborately dressed Chaka Khan leading the curtseys from the stage.
Former “Charmed” star Rose McGowan wore a Roberto Cavalli gown and also had a small slip-up on the catwalk. Actress Minka opted for a more demure knee-length high necked number by which showed off her slim figure. Meanwhile, actress Rebecca Romijn sported a more ornate strapless Marchesa gown, with floral detail around the bust and waist.
Grammy Award-winning Gloria Estefan, wearing a gown by Narciso Rodriguez, spoke of the pain that heart disease can bring.
"My grandfather died in front of me of a massive heart attack when I was 12, and he had five before that so I know what that's like," she said, adding that she has been eating smaller portions in a bid to stay healthy.
