What better way to shrug off the winter blues and look forward to cherry blossom on the trees and spring in the air than with a dash of pink in your wardrobe? Pink is the colour of happiness and confidence, it has even been used in prison
holding cells to effectively reduce erratic behaviour.
Last year, scientists denounced that pink even exists, but we’re bringing it back for 2013.
Time magazine said in March: “Pink is actually a combination of red and violet, two colours, which, if you look at a rainbow, are on the opposite sides of the arc. Pink can’t exist in nature without a little rainbow-bending help, which would allow the shades of red and violet to commingle. There is no such thing as a band of wavelengths that mix red and violet, and therefore, pink is not a real wavelength of light. Pink is not a name we give to something out there; pink isn’t out there.”
But whilst science was busy killing our buzz, designers gave us some exquisite pinks to work with, and this season demure and sophisticated was the name of the game. For a youthful and eternally flattering tone, chose a light blush pink. We aren’t after the aggressive energy of fuchsia but the cool, romantic whisper of Rosé champagne.
