Teeth whitening kits are popular in Saudi Arabia
Consumers and health practitioners in Saudi Arabia have been warned against using the teeth whitening kits manufactured by White Smile Co because of safety concerns, Arab News has reported.
The Saudi Food & Drug Authority (SFDA) has said that the company has decided to withdraw Home Whitening 35 percent (No. 12070) kits from the market, citing a lack of "how to use it" information written on the packet.
The company also insisted that a doctor should prescribe the product, but is yet to receive approval from SFDA to market it in the kingdom, the regulator said.
“Any person who has received this whitening kit from other sources should stop using them,” the statement said.
The authority urged all health service providers to inform it about problems related to medicine and medical equipment through its website: http://ncmdr.sfda.gov.sa.
