Egypt is home to a number of amazing attractions for tourists
Cairo – Mohammed el-Shennawi
Egypt has been named best tourist destination for January 2013 by Post Office Travel Money in the organisation’s report which cited low prices and tempting offers given by the many three
, four and five-star hotels across the country.
Low food and drink prices were the top criterion by which tourist destinations were judged. The report stated that the gap between the purchasing power of the pound sterling and the Egyptian pound has widened by 7 percent over the past twelve months, allowing tourists to exploit the difference and increase their spending.
Egypt is known to be a favourite destination for Britons who enjoy the Ancient Egyptian monuments spread along the banks of the Nile in the south of the country [Upper Egypt] before moving on to sampling the warmth and sunshine on the coast of the Red Sea.
The number of British tourists has dropped noticeably since Egypt’s revolution two years ago, however, as the Foreign Office issues repeated travel warnings for Britons to avoid visiting various parts of the country unless absolutely necessary. These warnings, however, exclude Red Sea beach hotspots Sharm el-Sheikh, Taba and Dahab.
The tourist destinations that came after Egypt in the list include Orlando, Florida where the pound sterling has widened its purchasing power over the US dollar by 3.5 percent over the past year. The report also extolled the low prices of food and drink in Orlando as well as the availability of accommodation and travel offers, making the city an appropriate destination for the remainder of the Christmas holiday.
