Al-Saqaf Palace in Mecca, Saudi Arabia
London – Naeem Arzu

Al-Saqaf Palace in Mecca, Saudi Arabia London – Naeem Arzu Al Saqaf Palace, Mecca is to be converted into a museum of Islamic antiquities, the Saudi Commission for Tourism and Antiquities (SCTA) has announced .
The palace was the residence of late King Abdul Aziz and was used as the royal court and government headquarters.
After his demise Al Saqaf palace fell into a state of disuse and repair.
Under the order of Crown Prince Sultan, the palace was brought under the custodian of the SCTA in 2010 for restoration and development.
The tourism board is currently designing plans to renovate the building into a vast museum, which will house religious antiquities from Mecca and other holy sites in Saudi Arabia.
Artefacts of cultural and heritage value will also be displayed, once the museum is completed.
