DS 6WR is the first SUV from Citroën in China
Citroën's premium brand DS, which is marketed exclusively in China, has just introduced its first SUV. Slated to premiere at the next Beijing Auto Show, the DS 6WR is directly derived from the Wild Rubis concept and aims to combine
performance and luxury.
In terms of design, the DS 6WR is equipped with the same fascia seen on the DS 5LS, as well as aluminum roof rails that run down into the body at the rear.
Among the new technologies featured in the SUV is Grip Control, which is designed to provide optimal traction on any type of terrain without requiring the use of four-wheel drive, thus limiting fuel consumption and CO2 emissions. Under the hood, the DS 6WR will be powered by the e-THP 160 and THP 200 engines.
Announced on the heels of the DS 5LS launch in March 2014, the first SUV from DS marks a significant step in the brand's development. DS plans to launch the 6WR in late 2014 in China, where it will compete with the Ford Kuga and the Nissan X-Trail, among others.
Also in Beijing, DS will present a concept car based on its DS 5LS. The DS 5LS R, powered by a 1.6-liter turbo engine with 300hp, rides 15mm lower to the ground than the standard model and described as more luxurious and more sporty.
The Beijing Auto Show takes place from April 23-29. Website: china-autoshow.com
